Since we've got the new FAQ (FAQ #873: What do I do when I disapprove of a Daily Deviation feature?)and theres apparently been lots of discussion on DDs lately, I thought I would take a few minutes to talk about them a bit since I haven't mentioned them too much lately.

Having to post DD's is what I would call a perk to being a Gallery Director, even if at times the communities actions can make it horrifying and frustrating with some of the shockingly immature things people do regarding them.

A Daily Deviation is not an award, though some may consider it an honour. A DD is one thing and one thing only and that is a Feature, just like you feature your favorite arts in your journals. The reason Gallery Directors are able to post one feature a day on the main page apart from our journal features is because we represent our respective galleries. We need to make sure people see what kind of wicked stuff our galleries have hidden away and we do that by posting Daily Deviations.

There is no guarantee saying that every single DD posted is going to be to your taste, so remember that it's just a feature, and it's only for a mere 24 hours. It won't kill you to let the artist enjoy the temporary added attention, and wait till something you like shows up.
If you are so inclined, please suggest some.
I'm glad that I so far have been spared from too much whining, but I think I do a fair job of posting a varied selection (not to toot my own horn, I mean I have a wide range of likes when it comes to art, thats all).

I gotta tell you, the bane of my existence as a Gallery Director is writing those DD write ups for the Daily Deviations. It is impossible to try and come up with things to say in there day after day because I don't want them to sound like something that should be a comment on the deviation.
I'm not articulate and I'm not a writer, I draw cartoons.
I'm well aware that my captions on Daily Deviations are repetitive and boring.

When you suggest a DD to me, I would very much appreciate it if you would provide me with a write up for it.
Also, please don't freak out and note me if I don't put a write up on a Daily Deviation. I featured it as a DD, isn't that saying well enough that I liked it? Is it so detrimental that I didn't post some repetitive verbal drivel?
It's very difficult to come up with things like that day after day after day and you guys do a much better job than I do.

Also, don't feel discouraged if I don't feature your suggestions, just find something else and suggest again. I don't have time to reply to them all and I find it to be counter-productive to do so. Just remember, only suggest to ONE GD at a time, don't send the same suggestion to several people, it causes problems.
Also, don't be embarrassed to suggest yourself or a friend, I don't care where suggestions come from, as long as they are good. I usually don't even look at the suggester until I've looked at the work and decided, so it doesn't influence my decision.

My favorite DD's lately have been coming from the stock gallery. If you are a stock user, for manipulations or reference, make sure you check out the DD's daily for stock!
Stock for comic artists is AWESOME, for animals, poses, backgrounds, objects... don't take stock for granted!
