The purpose of this contest is to get stockers and comic artists to work together! One of the least recognized uses for stock is as reference material for artists.
The stock community has a lot more to offer to a wide range of artists, and it's foolish not to take advantage of it.
What we have done is given stockers an opportunity to create stock specifically for reference for comic artists and comic artists a chance to try using stock for poses to create a complete image.


The contest will be in two parts:
Stockers

Start Date: Feb 8, 2008
End Date: March 8, 2008
There's a lot of stock out there but there are some real trends in there, just like in any other category. We'd like to challenge you to create some stock that is a little harder to find that will be useful to comic artists.
Your stock images should be full body, the person should be the focus of the image, so get rid of that excessive background and you shouldn't be wearing too much fancy clothing.
The artist needs to see the human form, usually they have their own clothing and character designs, what we need is just the poses.

Some things we'd like to see are:
Leaping/jumping (mid air)
Landing (not the typical posed landing but REAL landing poses caught properly)
Running and walking from several different angles and perspectives
Talking poses, crowds, perspective and foreshortening (finger points and arm reaches those kind of things. Think DYNAMIC)

Some things we'd like to avoid simply because they are all readily available already are:
Sword shots
random standing poses of girls and fantasy poses

Using the winning entries from the stock portion of this contest you need to create a complete image or comic page using the pose including background/setting and coloured or toned.
If you are making a full comic page, make sure the image you used the stock for is easily visible and found.
Can be digital or traditional, it doesn't matter and feel free to exaggerate or alter the pose as needed, as long as it's still clearly recognizable.

The Rules

STOCK

Photo must be 600x600 or over
Must not have massive blur/grain/distortion etc
Must be good as character reference so person must be easily visible and the focus of the image

COMICS

Must use one of the stock images provided
No tracing (we will check)
Must be completed and fully coloured or toned image with background
Do not start your entry until the start date of the comic portion (see rule 1)
